The SFX in this movie are of cause well outdated, but remain entertaining enough. Its a comedy film with a serious religious and spiritual overtone. My wife had never seen the movie, and I end up purchasing it after using a scene in it to explain a situation we were dealing with at the time. I can't say I've ever purchased a film before for this reason, but glad I did, as I can't remember the last time it was aired on television. In the end its a film where good overcomes evil, and a story of sacrifice and love. Eddie Murphy's ability to make a joke out of everything makes it ever more hilarious when he's doing it in a continuos environment of people who take the situation very serious. I wouldn't let my 4 year old watch it, as there may be one or more scenes that would cause her to have nightmares or create fears. However, I'm sure when she's a bit older she will enjoy the message of the film without being affected by the scarier parts.
